An Elevated, Family Friendly Seasonal Escape
This stay at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was hosted, however all experiences and opinions shared here are entirely my own.
There’s something about winter in Whistler that feels both energizing and deeply restorative. Snow-covered evergreens, crackling fires, steaming outdoor pools, and that unmistakable alpine calm make it the kind of place where time slows down in the very best way.
Our recent family stay at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was exactly that: a cozy, luxurious reset filled with thoughtful details, exceptional hospitality, and moments that felt both elevated and effortless.

Festive Arrival
Walking into the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler felt like entering a holiday storybook. The lobby was warm and glowing, decorated with Christmas trees, twinkle lights, and beautiful decor. It immediately lifted our spirits and invited us to slow down and take in the holiday atmosphere. What made the arrival especially meaningful was the thoughtful way the resort welcomed our children. The staff guided them into a special room designed like an enchanted forest, softly lit with star projections, woodland decor, and a magical calmness that delighted them instantly. Each of them got to choose a stuffed animal to keep for the trip, something small but meaningful that made them feel welcomed and even more excited for our getaway. It was the perfect beginning to our winter escape.

Our Room: Cozy, Spacious, and Thoughtfully Designed
Our deluxe mountain-view suite exceeded every expectation. It was spacious, quietly luxurious, and tailored to family travel in a way that felt effortless and intentional. The kids were thrilled to discover a pull out bed that felt like a real bed, sturdy and comfortable enough that they slept deeply both nights. We had two bathrooms and two showers which made mornings and post pool warm ups incredibly convenient. A deep soaker tub with a vintage style handheld shower wand felt like a personal treat, the kind of detail that makes you want to linger a little longer.
The balcony offered a peaceful view of snowy peaks and twinkling lights, while the gas fireplace became our go to spot for warming up and drying boots after playing in the snow. The welcome cookies for the kids and the treats for us were a sweet touch. Every part of the room was curated for comfort, and it set the tone for a genuinely relaxing stay.

Thoughtful Touches Throughout the Resort
One of the most memorable parts of staying at the Four Seasons Whistler is how many thoughtful touches are quietly woven into the experience. There is a sense of calm convenience throughout the property, the kind of ease that makes family travel feel manageable and even indulgent. The Letters to Santa box in the lobby sparked pure joy for my children (they each wrote a letter!).. The private shuttle made moving between the resort and Whistler Village completely seamless, eliminating the stress of parking or driving. Even the pathways leading to the pool were beautifully decorated and softly lit, turning simple transitions into something scenic and special. The resort anticipates needs you do not realize you have until they are already met.
Poolside Magic Under Winter Skies
Swimming outdoors in winter feels enchanting in a way that is hard to describe. On our first evening we walked along a festive path to the pool, where the warm water steamed into the cold night air and twinkle lights glowed from the surrounding evergreens. The kids splashed around happily, taking in the trees decorated with sparkling lights. Firepits flickered along the pool deck and the atmosphere felt peaceful and celebratory at the same time. The Champagne Pool Bar added a touch of luxury, offering champagne flights and festive drinks. With three hot tubs, including one for adults only, and a barrel style wooden sauna, the pool area was one of the most memorable parts of our stay.
The Games Room: Endless Fun for Kids
If the pool was the nighttime highlight, the games room was the daytime favorite. My kids ran straight to it every chance they got. It was nostalgic and fun, filled with classic arcade machines, skee ball, foosball, and ping pong. They played round after round of Pac Man and took turns discovering all the fun activities in the room. Outside the door was a giant chessboard that became an unexpected hit! Since we are reading Harry Potter as a family, we took to calling it “Wizard's Chess.” As a parent, it was such a relief to have spaces where the kids could play happily and independently, without lines or extra fees.

Breakfast at Braidwood Tavern
Breakfast at Braidwood Tavern was exceptional. We enjoyed the buffet on both mornings and I loved how varied and beautifully presented the selection was. It felt elevated yet approachable, the kind of breakfast where kids can pick their favorites and adults can savor something a little more refined. There were hot dishes like sausages, eggs, and breakfast burritos, alongside an omelet station. The cold section included smoked salmon, candied salmon, cheeses, and deli meats. The bakery area was a dream with pastries (you NEED to try the leek and parmesan pastry), muffins, and even a donut pegboard. My children were thrilled to discover a chocolate fountain, which quickly became the star attraction. Vegan and gluten free options were easy to find and clearly marked. It was the perfect winter breakfast to fuel a day of adventure.

A Snow Day on Whistler Peak
After breakfast on our second morning, we bundled up in our snow gear, hopped into the resort shuttle, and made our way to the gondola for a trip up Whistler Peak. The gondola ride itself was spectacular, offering panoramic views of the mountains and forests as we ascended into the snow covered alpine. At the top we played in the snow, took family photos with the iconic Olympic rings, and soaked in the breathtaking scenery. Whistler was a host mountain during the 2010 Winter Olympics and there is something special about standing in a place with so much history and beauty. We enjoyed lunch at the summit where the kids ordered burgers and chicken strips while I had a surprisingly delicious tofu tikka masala. After descending we explored the village shops before returning to the resort for a warm and relaxing afternoon.

Champagne by the Pool
One of our favourite rituals during our stay was time spent at the outdoor pool. While the kids happily splashed and swam, I soaked in the alpine air with a glass of champagne from the Champagne Pool Bar, watching steam rise as snowflakes drifted down around us.
There’s something undeniably magical about enjoying a warm pool in winter, surrounded by mountains and tall evergreens. It’s peaceful, invigorating, and quietly indulgent, and a moment that feels quintessentially Whistler.

The Library
Later that evening, I slipped away to The Library, a beautifully intimate space perfect for a quiet cocktail or a lingering conversation.
Here, guests can enjoy a refined Scotch experience highlighting cocktails and rare expressions crafted by The Macallan, thoughtfully curated for those who appreciate depth, balance, and craftsmanship. I ordered the Resonance cocktail, which was smooth, complex, and perfectly suited to a cozy winter night.
The Library feels timeless and sophisticated without being formal, making it an ideal place to unwind after a day outdoors.

Dinner at SIDECUT Steakhouse
Dinner at SIDECUT Steakhouse was a true highlight. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a Moet and Chandon vending machine, a fun and unexpected touch. We started with their famous potato bread and maple butter which was warm, soft, and absolutely delicious. The kids each ordered the salmon from the elevated kids menu and loved it. For my own dinner, I chose the seafood trio with a side of rapini, and it was exceptional. SIDECUT manages to be refined and elegant without ever feeling unwelcoming to families and that is no small feat.

Sacred Spaces Massage at The Spa
One of the most meaningful experiences of our stay was my Sacred Spaces Massage at The Spa, a treatment that goes far beyond relaxation.
This experience is deeply rooted in intention and place, blending Indigenous plant knowledge with restorative massage techniques. The treatment begins with grounding rituals and the use of botanicals sourced through the spa’s partnership with Sḵwálwen Botanicals, an Indigenous female founded brand that honours Squamish plant knowledge, cultural storytelling, and sustainable harvesting practices.
The massage itself is both calming and rejuvenating, designed to restore balance while creating a sense of connection to the land. What set this treatment apart was its thoughtful progression. Beginning face-up with a decadent foot scrub and massage immediately grounded me in the moment, allowing me to fully relax and experience the treatment as a truly immersive, sensory experience.
This thoughtful collaboration has helped earn the spa international recognition, including World’s Leading Indigenous Community Tourism Initiative 2025 by the World Sustainable Travel and Hospitality Awards.
The Spa at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler has also been named Canada’s Best Resort Spa in both 2024 and 2025 by the World Spa Awards, a reflection of its commitment to excellence, wellness, and meaningful guest experiences.

A Cozy Goodbye and a Hopeful Return
Leaving the Four Seasons Whistler was difficult because our stay had become such a restorative and joy filled experience. It reminded me why seasonal living means so much to me. Winter has its own rhythm and beauty and this trip allowed us to embrace it. My kids loved every moment, from the games room to the snowy gondola ride, and we left feeling connected and inspired. I am already dreaming of returning in spring when the mountains begin to wake up and the landscape shifts into a new season of color and possibility.
